Our Service Process
FAQ

The process begins with an initial consultation to understand your project goals. We follow this with a custom design (where relevant) and a quote for the work. The quote will guide you through the project’s work, pricing and timeline. If accepted, we’ll begin working in line with the proposed timeline.

Landscape designs can be slightly more complex than other services due to the surface area and complexity.

We take extra time during the consultation phase to work with our clients, their vision, and their budgets to ensure everything perfectly aligns with their requirements. From there, we look to use £D modelling to provide a visual representation of the project and to gain confirmation on a final plan.

Absolutely! We prioritise transparent communication with our clients, involving them throughout the process and ensuring they’re informed on any changes, delays or other important information.

Similarly, we value input from our clients at every step; we want to ensure your voice is heard.

Clients do, however, have control over how much involvement they want. Sometimes, projects are straightforward enough that the client may not need additional input or wish to be involved beyond what has been agreed.

Project timelines vary based on size and complexity. Providing a simple one-size-fits-all estimate isn’t an easy endeavour. However, during the initial consultation, we’ll provide an estimated completion date tailored to your requirements.

We can also discuss time-frames and how they can adjust based on unique circumstances, such as commercial downtime or busy periods wherein work may disrupt regular day-to-day activities.

We’re always looking to provide an easy, streamlined process for our clients.

Clients have a choice of high-quality materials, including wood, metal, and composite. These suit different aesthetics and durability needs.

If you don’t have a material in mind before your initial consultation, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of each, which would best suit your current home/commercial space and guide you on our recommendation.

Other elements, such as where your property is in Essex and Suffolk may alter our recommendation, such as coastal properties and accounting for local weather.

Of course! We specialise in creating made-to-measure bespoke gates handcrafted in our North Essex workshop. We build these to match your property’s style and security needs.

Areas We Serve

Oakland FLS proudly serves Essex and Suffolk, including Colchester, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Bury St. Edmunds, and the surrounding areas.

Yes! We offer our services in both urban and rural areas, adapting our recommendations and solution to suit the specific needs of the different environments and properties.

While our primary service areas are Essex and Suffolk, we may consider nearby regions depending on the project.

General Maintenance
& Aftercare FAQ

Regular cleaning and treating your fence with wood preservatives will help protect it from the elements. Once we’ve installed your new fence, we’ll provide specific, tailored maintenance tips for better aftercare.

Keeping your decking in top condition doesn’t need to be challenging. Clean regularly, treat with decking oil, and ensure proper drainage to prevent water damage, especially in rainy areas.

Sometimes, debris from use can cause water drainage problems, so it’s important to check over your decking regularly.

We have a detailed guide on cleaning composite decking that can help improve your aftercare.

Pruning should typically be done once or twice a year, depending on the plant type and the season. We recommend pruning in early spring or late winter for the best results.

We’ll provide specific recommendations for your plants and surrounding fauna after we complete any landscaping or pruning projects.

To learn more about pruning, check out our comprehensive guide to healthy garden growth.

Occasionally re-sanding and sealing may be necessary for block paving to prevent weeds and maintain a pristine look. In most cases, a simple clean and clearing of debris will help the longevity of your paving.

Regular checks will help you spot issues or maintenance requirements before they become an issue.

Regular watering, fertilising and seasonal planting are necessary to maintain the beauty and health of your new landscaped garden. After completing a project, we’ll offer more tailored aftercare advice for your specific plants.
